Taj Bibi Bilqis Makani Begum Sahiba (Urdu:تاج بیبی بلقیس مکانی بیگم صاحبہ), also known as Rajkumari Shri Manavati Baiji Lall Sahiba, Princess Manmati, Jagat Gosain, Jodha Bai[1] (May 13, 1573 – April 18, 1619) was an Empress of Mughal Empire. She was the wife of Mughal Emperor Jahangir and the mother of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan.[2]
Family
Manavati Baiji Lall was born a Rajput princess (Rajkumari) on 13th of May, 1573. She was the tenth daughter of Raja Udai Singh II of Marwar fondly nicknamed 'Mota Raja' by Mughal Emperor Akbar. Her mother was Rani Rajavat Kanchiva Manrang Devi Sahiba. She was the sister of Sur Singh of Marwar.
Marriage
Manavati's marriage to Salim took place at Mota Raja’s Palace, Fatehpur Sikri near Agra, on the 21st of January, 1586 and was conducted in Muslim rites. She was the third wife of Shahzada Salim.[2] She gave birth to Shahzadi Begum Sultana in 1590, Shahzada Khurram (the future Shah Jahan) on 15th of January, 1592 and Shahzadi Izzat in nissa in 1596 .She was Padshah Begum of Jahangir from 1605 to 1619.[2] She was elevated to the title of Taj Bibi Begum Sahiba.
