QTrade financial group

Qtrade Financial Group is an online brokerage company based out of Vancouver, Canada. It provides investing services to clients of credit unions and banks across Canada.[1] It claims to have $11.5 billion in assets and partnerships with over 150 Canadian credit unions [2] as well as insurance companies including Sun Life and Great West Life.[3] Like all brokerages and investment dealers, they are members of Investment Industry Regulatory Organization of Canada (IIROC) and as such, the Canadian Investor Protection Fund (CIPF) protects investors should the brokerage become insolvent.[4] Like most brokerages, it also has a collection of commission-free exchange traded funds.[5] as well as offering GIC's [6] and TFSA accounts.[7]

The Globe and Mail ranked it second (out of 11 Canadian online brokerages) for user experience, however it tied for last place in terms of fees through their bid–ask spread.[8][9] Moneysense magazine ranked Qtrade highly in providing market intelligence category, but ranked other brokerages as superior for ease of use, record keeping, and banking integration.[10][11] Qtrade has been considered a minimal advertiser and quick to innovator, being quick to copy best practices of larger institutions.[12]

Qtrade Financial Group is a member of Desjardins Group, and Qtrade fully owns OceanRock Investments Inc.[13] It has been in operation since 2001 [14] and as of May, 2016 William Packham became the current CEO of the company.[15]
