Ramón de Amaya (1783-1860s) was an Argentine-Uruguayan Military, who had participated in the Uruguayan civil war.
Biography
Born in Buenos Aires, Ramón de Amaya began his military career as a cadet in Regimiento de Infanteria de Buenos Aires.[1] Amaya participated heroically during the British invasions of the Río de la Plata, where he served with the rank of Captain.[2] Amaya also was involved in conflicts between the Colorado Party and National Party. He participated in the defense of city in during the Great Siege of Montevideo.[3]
Family
Ramón was the son of Manuel de Amaya and Valentina Zenzano, the daughter of notary Joseph Zenzano and Agripina Mansilla.[4] His wife was Josefa, daughter of Felix Galan born in Alicante, and Manuela García de la Paz born in Montevideo.[5]
