Brian Imanuel (born September 21, 1999), better known by his stage name Rich Chigga, is an Indonesian hip hop recording artist and comedian from Jakarta.[1] He is best known for his single "Dat Stick", which was released in March 2016.[2]
Early life
Brian Imanuel was born on September 21, 1999 in Jakarta Raya, Indonesia.[3] Growing up in Indonesia, Rich Chigga got his start with social media in 2010 when he was 11 years old. At first, he posted dark comedy videos that often lampoon American culture, which he consumed via online videos. He taught himself English by watching YouTube videos and by listening to rappers like Childish Gambino, 2 Chainz, Macklemore, and Tyler, The Creator.[4]
Career
Rich Chigga first released his debut track, titled "Living the Dream" on July 17, 2015 on his YouTube. The song was produced by DJ Smokey.[5] Rich Chigga then went on to release his debut single "Dat Stick" on February 22, 2016.[6] The track caught international success after a reaction video was released, it featured American rappers Ghostface Killah, 21 Savage, Tory Lanez, MadeinTYO, Desiigner and many more.[7] "Dat Stick" then went on to peak at number four on the Bubbling Under R&B/Hip-Hop Singles.[8]
Rich Chigga then went on to release his second single titled "Who That Be" on iTunes on August 9, 2016. The song was produced by Sihk.[9] He then release the remix of his single "Dat Stick" which features Ghostface Killah and Pouya.[10]
