About
The school mascot is the Zebra. Students and staff refer to this zebra as "Zebbie" and have a plush "Zebbie Zebra" placed in a large glass case at the main student entrance. The school is a member of the TRC (Three Rivers Conference), which includes the school districts of North Manchester, Northfield, North Miami, Rochester, Southwood, Tippecanoe Valley, Wabash, Whitko. The school plays at the 3A level in every sport except for football, which plays at the 2A classification.
The school principal is Adam Strasser. The school newspaper is Zebra Tales and the school yearbook is called Manitou Ripples, named after nearby Lake Manitou.
In the 2007-2008 school year RHS became a "New Tech" high school, which means that assignments are project and technology based.
Starting with the 2007-2008 school year, Rochester Community Schools began a balanced school-year calendar, meaning that students go to school for nine weeks and then have two weeks off throughout the school year. The first of the two weeks off is an inter-session period where students who need help still attend school for extra help.
There are a variety of clubs and sports in which students can take part. The clubs/activities include: Art Club, Band, Bowling Club, Calculus Club, Chess Club, Chinese Club, Class Officers, Dance Team, Environmental Club(P.E.A.C.E), FCA, F.C.C.L.A., F.F.A., Key Club, National Honor Society, Peer Helpers, PEP, Problem Solvers, School Newspaper(Zebra Tales), School Yearbook (Manitou Ripples), Spanish Club, Student Council, Tri-Epsilon (Drama), and Vocal Music. The sports include Cheerleading, Cross Country, Football, Girls/Guys Golf, Girls/Guys Soccer, Girls/Guys Tennis, Girls Volleyball, Track, Baseball, Girls Softball, Girls/Guys Basketball, Swimming, Wrestling, and Interscholastic Athletics.
