Rock Creek Trail
Rock Creek Trail is in the northern Gore Range, part of the Rocky Mountains in the U.S. state of Colorado. It is located in the Eagles Nest Wilderness, Summit County. Rock Creek Trail is north of Interstate 70, west of Highway 9, north of Silverthorne.
Rock Creek Trail ascends west along the base of Keller Mountain, 13,085 feet, north of Rock Creek. The Rock Creek Trail intersects with the Gore Range Trail near the boundary of the Eagles Nest Wilderness. Boulder Lake lies north of the Rock Creek watershed, while Willow Lakes are several miles south at the base of Willow Mountain. The abandoned Boss Mine tailings pile on the south face of Keller Mountain provides a clearing from which to view the forest of aspen, lodgepole pine, fir, and spruce that fill the Rock Creek Valley. Greatest Hikes in Central Colorado: Summit and Eagle Counties, a hiking guide by Kim Fenske, provides a description of Rock Creek Trail.
