Roland Wlodyka (last name pronounced Wa-la-da-ka) is a retired NASCAR Winston Cup Series race car driver who drove from 1977 to 1978.
Summary
He drove in a grand total of 2,806.9 miles or 4,517.3 kilometres of professional stock car racing. While starting an average of 23rd place, Wlodyka finished worse than he started with a meager 27th place on average. His total NASCAR Cup Series earnings were $15,430 ($56,075.45 when adjusted for inflation). Wlodyka's racing career started at the age of 37 and ended at the age of 38; a relative late bloomer with a short career span.[1]
Wlodyka's most favorite track is Atlanta Motor Speedway where he would finish an average of 18th place. His least favorite track is Darlington Raceway where he would end up finishing a meager 36th place on average. While finishing in 19th place on average on restrictor plate tracks, Wlodyka would finish a mediocre 31st place on average driving on flat tracks.[2]
Following his racing career, Wlodyka acted as a crew chief in the Cup Series and the Craftsman Truck Series, helping launch the career of Dale Earnhardt.[3]
