Rotimi Akinfenwa professionally known as Rotimikeys is a Nigerian music producer, singer-songwriter, arranger, multi-instrumentalist, sound engineer, sound designer and consultant. He is the current CEO of the production company, SonG23 Productions.[1]
In 2013, Rotimikeys produced the hit single Only You[2] for Nikki Laoye, which won the 2013 Headies Awards for Best Female Vocal Performance. He co-wrote, produced and featured in 2016 on Kelele, a song by Yemi Alade off her Mama Africa, album[3] from which he also produced the song Nakupenda. He also produced the theme song for the 2015 gubernatorial election campaign for the All Progressives Congress' (APC) governorship candidate, Akinwunmi Ambode.[4]
Early life
Rotimikeys joined his church choir at the age of 6 and began playing drums, guitars and keyboards at the age of 10.[5]
In 2001, Rotimikeys had his first encounter with music studio software and began to hone his production skills.[4] He graduated with a Bachelors degree in Accounting from Olabisi Onabanjo University.
Career
In 2003, Rotimikeys began working and consulting for Red Ark Studios and SO&U Saatchi & Saatchi in Lagos. In 2007, He was hired as the Agency Producer of Insight Communications, noted as one of the biggest advertising agencies in the region, where he expanded his craft, working across a wide range of music genres and with a number of recording artistes.[6]
As a music producer, Rotimikeys has produced a number of music jingles, Television Commercial Sound design and sound support for notable advertising Campaigns in Nigeria and other parts of West Africa, for flagship brands such as MTN, Gulder, Konga, Amstel Malta, Glo, Etisalat, Jumia,[6] Pepsi, Indomie, Peak Milk, Power Pasta and DSTV.[7][8]

Awards and Recognition
As a record producer, a number of Rotimikeys' produced songs have gone on to achieve critical success, including Only You by Nikki Laoye[2] and Pita's debut album As I am. Rotimikeys himself has been nominated as Producer of the Year at the 2013 African Gospel Music Awards in the UK,[12] for his work on Only You by Nikki Laoye, as well as Afro Gospel Producer, Afro Soul Producer and Afro Jazz Producer of the Year at the 2015 Beatz Awards.[13]
