Royal Plaza on Scotts is a hotel located on Scotts Road within the Orchard Road area of Singapore. The hotel offers free high-speed WIFI/wired Internet for multiple devices, minibar replenished once, daily, Nespresso gourmet coffee and local calls in all rooms. The hotel has 15 floors and a total of 511 rooms.[1]
Royal Plaza on Scotts is owned by Sajahtera Investments (S) Pte Ltd, which also has business interests in property and real estate investment and management.
History
Royal Plaza on Scotts first opened in 1974 as the Holiday Inn Hotel Singapore. In 1980, the name was changed to Holiday Inn Singapore.[2] In 1985, it became Royal Holiday Inn Singapore. The name was changed to Royal Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in 1990. After 7 years, the name was changed to Royal Crowne Plaza. Its current name of Royal Plaza on Scotts was introduced on 1 December 1999.
The hotel has completed several renovations in recent years. From 2006 to 2007, there were major renovations in all of Royal Plaza on Scotts’ rooms.[1] In 2009, all of its suites were renovated.[3] The hotel upgraded its facade in 2014.
Facilities
Located in the heart of Orchard, the deluxe business hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, a 24-hour fitness centre, eight function rooms, a 24-hour Internet Lounge, and one food & beverages outlet. Its signature award-winning buffet restaurant, Carousel, serves up scrumptious buffet spread for breakfast, lunch, high tea and dinner.[4] It is also voted as Best Buffet Restaurant for six times in a row by Singapore Press Holdings' AsiaOne People's Choice Awards and the only restaurant in the Hall of Fame for AsiaOne People’s Choice Awards.
Royal Plaza on Scotts is a hotel with halal-friendly amenities. The food served in its restaurant, function rooms and in-room dining menu are from halal-certified kitchens.[4] It is also Singapore's first 100% smoke-free hotel.
The 511-room five-star hotel provides complimentary high-speed WIFI for multiple devices, minibar replenished once, daily, local calls and Nespresso gourmet coffee in all rooms and suites.
Awards
Royal Plaza on Scotts has won travel awards, including being voted ‘Best Independent Hotel’ by TTG Travel Awards for 9 consecutive years from 2007 to 2015. [5] The hotel was also awarded the 2015 Certificate of Excellence awarded by TripAdvisor.
