Secondary School Certificate

The Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Examination, is a public examination in Bangladesh, India and Pakistan conducted as completion exam of secondary education. Students of 10th grade/class ten appear in these examinations. It is an equivalent to GCSE in England. SSC is equivalent to first two years of High Schools in the USA, and GCSE in England. HSC is equivalent to 3rd and 4th year of High School in the USA, which means they can start college with HSC certification here in the USA.

Bangladesh

In Bangladesh , High School is divided into Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and HSC (Higher Secondary School Certification) levels, although SSC is colloquially called high school due to its use during the British ruling time. After completing the 9th and 10th class (grade) students sits for a nationwide public examination called SSC and if they pass they get chance to study in colleges or higher secondary schools.

India

In India it is also known as 10th Board Exam, is a public examination that is conducted by various boards of education including CISCE[1] and other state boards for students of class 10 (Senior class). CBSE made their class 10 boards non compulsory.[2]

The SSC examination is conducted in the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Goa in India. In 2010, 1,626,342 students, including 901,417 boys, took this examination at 3,692 centers spread across the state of Maharashtra. More than 1.3 million students appeared in the CBSE class 10th Exam in 2014.

Procedure

10th class exam is conducted at the state level by the state boards of education and at the National level by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations. Class 10 exam is conducted annually. 10th board exam syllabus may differ for students from different education boards.

Schedule

In India, 10th board exam is usually conducted in the month of March and April by most of the boards of education in India. An exam schedule is released by the boards at least one month before the exam. Class 10 board exam results are usually declared in the month of May/June. Some of the education boards in India also declare a list of top 15 students in the board exams, called the merit list.
