Sachin Baby (born 18 December 1988) is an Indian cricketer who plays for Kerala in domestic cricket.[2] He was born on 18 December 1988 in Adimali of Idukki, Kerala. He is a left-handed batsman who also bowls right-arm off break.
Life and career
On December 11, 1988, the 15-year-old Sachin Tendulkar scored a century on his first-class debut at the Wankhede Stadium. A week later, a baby boy was born in Thodupuzha, Kerala, and his cricket-mad father P.C. Baby named him Sachin.[3]
Unlike Tendulkar, Sachin Baby bats left-handed. He has been a regular member of Kerala's middle order since his debut in 2009, but it took him till his 25th first-class match, in December 2014, to score his first hundred, an unbeaten 200 against Hyderabad.
Consistency in first-class cricket continues to elude Baby, but he has done better in limited-overs cricket, as a List A average in the mid-40s would suggest. He was part of the Rajasthan Royals squad in the 2013 season, though he only got to play one match.
Captain of Kerala's limited-overs side, Sachin Baby scored heavily in the 2012-13 Vijay Hazare Trophy, India's premier domestic 50-over tournament. His century in the quarter-final earned Kerala a place in the final four of the tournament. Baby's penchant for limited-overs cricket earned him a contract with the Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2013. RCB picked him up in the IPL Player Auction 2016.
