Saman Shad is a Pakistani-Australian writer, radiomaker, playwright and novelist. She was born in Karachi, Pakistan and currently resides in Sydney, Australia. She is known primarily for her freelance journalism in publications including the Guardian, SBS, news.com.au and other publications where she has written on a range of topics including race relations, politics, parenting and food. She has additionally had a number of plays and radio dramas performed in both the UK and Australia.

Saman was also the selected playwright to participate in the inaugural STARTS writer's residency scheme at Soho Theatre, and has also taken part in a number of writer's festivals and readings including DNAsia at Waterman's Theatre and Sunay'ha Theatre Festival,[1] both in London, the Australian Asian Alliance Multicultural Forum in Sydney and as an invited guest at the Pakistan Academy of Letters, Islamabad.
