Sandy Lake, Manitoba
Sandy Lake is an unincorporated community recognized as a local urban district[1] in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located in the Rural Municipality of Harrison along PTH 45 approximately 10 miles west of PTH 10. Sandy Lake has a dwindling population; the elementary school was closed down and purchased by the Nowell family in 2006. The main industry in Sandy Lake is agriculture.
The local grain elevator was purchased by Robert and Linda Lewandoski and family, in 1996.
Sandy Lake's population swells during the summer months with the arrival of cottagers who own lakefront property, and use the lake for recreational purposes. A nine-hole golf course is another summer attraction.
