"Sayonara Tokyo" is a song recorded by Bonnie Tyler. It was released as a standalone single, and the last release from Tyler's RCA Records contract before her signing with CBS Records in the following year. It was written by songwriters Bill Cruthchfield and Kintaro Nakamura, and produced by Eiki Uchida. The song was exclusively released in Japan, and has never been released in CD format.
Recording
Tyler recorded her vocals for the song on 1 August 1981 at JAM Studio in London.
Background and release
"Sayonara Tokyo" was released as a single in Japan in 1981. The song was also featured on Tyler's Japanese compilation album Best. released by RCA Records. Tyler then left the recording scene for over a year before having international success with her Jim Steinman collaboration.[1]
The B-Side is "Gonna Get Better", written by Tyler and her brother Paul Hopkins.
