Sedley is a village in Saskatchewan, south-east of Regina, Saskatchewan on Highway 33, 25 miles south east of Regina. This village is located at the intersection of Highway 33 and Highway 620. It had a population of 337 people in 2011. Sedley lies in a wheat producing agricultural district and is home to Sedley School.

History

The Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) rail branch line helped to settle this community. Wascana Creek runs just to the west of Highway 33. It was named for Sedley Blanchard, a lawyer.^[6]

Notable natives

• Kelly Bechard (born January 28, 1978 in Sedley, Saskatchewan) is a women's ice hockey player. Bechard competed for Canada at the World Championships in 2000 and 2001.^[7] In 2002, she competed for Canada at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. She was also a provincial doubles badminton champion in High School.
• Carol Morin grew up as Carol Adams in Sedley, although she has since changed her name to Carol Morin. She graduated from Sedley High School in 1981 then entered the study of broadcast at SAIT in Calgary, Alberta. Since then, Morin has been a member of the media, becoming the first First Nation person to ever broadcast in mainstream media - when she worked for CTV Regina in 1983. By 1989, she was the first Aboriginal person to anchor a national newscast - with CBC Newsworld. Since that time, Morin has won numerous awards for excellence in broadcasting. She currently works for CBC North Television based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. She is the daughter of Joe and Dorothy Adams.
