Seguenzia monocingulata is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Seguenziidae.[2]
Description
The height of the shell attains 4 mm. The white, imperforate shell has a high conoid shape. The whorls have revolving ribs, of which the last has about four distant prominent ones, besides minor striae on the base.[3]
Distribution
This species occurs in deep water (up to 3,900 m) in the Atlantic Ocean off Portugal, Madeira, Morocco and the Cape Verdes. It was originally described by Seguenza in fossil form during the Miocene in Calabria and during the Pliocene in Sicily[4] and is considered as such as a synonym of Seguenzia formosa Jeffreys, 1876
