Early life

Shama was born in Jalalabad and lives in Kabul, where she was educated. She is an ethnic Pashtun. She is multilingual and is fluent in Pashto, Urdu and Persian.

Career

Shama's solo career began in the late 2007s with hits to her credit from the onset. A song about the Afghan National Army broke popularity records. The song turned out to be a huge hit and was highly appreciated by her fans.

Her Pashto album about the Afghanistan national cricket team became an instant hit after its release. Another album called Tappay had success with the track "Tappay". In the same year she released another Pashto album in Peshawar Pakistan.

Shama once said the only difference she saw between her debut album and her current album is the Pashto music arrangement.

Audience in India

Shama attracted the attention of Indian audiences with her song "Da Kirkat Millai Lobgharhi", a tune which was sung in Pashto by renowned Pashto singers. This was later re-copied by Indian singers. Shama still has somewhat of a fan base in India.

Personal life

Shama's favorite singers are Karan Khan, Naghma and Baryalai Samadi. She has an interest in welfare work, but she doesn't like to ask for donations.
