Shawn C. Phillips also known by his YouTube username coolduder (born September 23, 1985) is an American YouTuber and indie horror film actor. He is well known for his YouTube channel coolduder where he reviews movies/DVDs, does around the town videos and Don and Murph

Early life

Phillips was born on September 23, 1985 in Towson, Maryland.[1] He states that he always had an interest in acting but wasn't sure how to get into it. During middle school, he and a friend, MJ Kelley began making their own short films which they eventually uploaded onto YouTube.[2] Phillips attended Towson High School.[3]

YouTube

Phillips joined YouTube on March 1, 2006 and originally only intended to upload random videos. He started uploaded a series of comedic shorts called The Don and Murph Show with his friend and fellow YouTuber MJ Kelley reprising their characters in theirskits. However, seeing a YouTuber proudly present his DVD collection inspired him to start his own DVD collection series.[4] As of July 2016, His channel currently has 62,994 subscribers and over 20,000,000 views.[5]

Acting career

Phillips credits YouTube for starting his acting career. He was discovered on YouTube by a producer who enjoyed his work and later messaged him to ask if he could star in a movie he was producing called Assault of the Sasquatch. Since then, Phillips has starred in over 100 movies.[6]

Personal life

Phillips is known for his eccentric taste in films and ranks Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, The Return of the Living Dead, Clifford, It's Pat and Woodchipper Massacre as his top five favourite movies and Pee-Wee's Big Adventure as his all-time favourite film.[7]

In 2014, Phillips was hospitalised and was told by doctors that he needed to lose weight or else he would die. This caused him to undertake a healthy diet and an exercise programme until he lost over 250 pounds using his YouTube channel in order to document his journey.[8]
