Sherwin Glass

Sherwin Glass (? 1927 ? 2005[1]) founded Farmer's Furniture Company, the largest furniture store in the US by number of stores. He was elected to the Furniture Hall of Fame and engaged in huge philanthropy including providing the Sherwin Glass Swim Center at the Atlanta Jewish Community Center and endowing the Shana Glass Leadership Conference for the Anti-Defamation League in memory of his daughter, Shana, who was allegedly murdered by her husband in 1993. He also received major awards from the Anti-Defamation League and the Jewish Federation. He had seven brothers and sisters all of which predeceased him except Sarah L. Bush of Stamford, CT. Shana was murdered by her husband, not allegedly. While Sherwin Glass was generous to strangers, he was a stranger to his extended family. While he was generous to others with his wealth he neglected his own extended family and made no provisions for any family members in his will.
