Shopular is a mobile shopping app that sends notifications on offers, deals and sales from retailers to its users.[1] The company was founded in 2012 by Navneet Loiwal and Tommy Tsai who had worked at Shopkick previously.[2][3] The company has received over $13.6 million in investments.[4] In March 2016, the app was acquired by Ebates.[5]
Features
Users of the app receive location based notifications on the latest top offers from retailers and stores.[6] The app allows users to filter deals by locations, stores, product categories amongst others.[7][1] The app uses geo-locating to push relevant deals to customers as they walk into stores.[8][9]
Funding rounds
In January 2012, they raised a seed of from Y Combinatory and other investors including Adam D'Angelo the founder of Quora.[10][11] They received a Series A (lead) funding of $6.4 million from Sequoia Capital in September 2013.[12] In February 2016, they had another investment of $7.2 million from Venture.[13][4]
