Shorea micans is a species of plant in the Dipterocarpaceae family. The species name is derived from Latin (micans = gleaming) and refers to this species shiny leaves. It is a low emergent to main canopy tree, found in mixed dipterocarp forest on soils ovelying ultrabasic rock.[1]
S. micans is endemic to Sabah, Malaysian Borneo, and is critically endangered due to habitat loss.[2] It is found in at least two protected areas (Tawai[3] and Bidu Bidu[4] Forest Reserve).
