"Sitting at the Wheel" is a 1983 hit single by The Moody Blues, written by John Lodge. It was released in the US as the leadoff single from The Present in August 1983 and debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 on September 3, 1983. In the UK, "Sitting At The Wheel" was released in November 1983 as the second single from The Present, following "Blue World". In interviews, Lodge has stated that he was listening to "Running On Empty" by Jackson Browne when he wrote "Sitting At The Wheel". The song was a success for The Moody Blues, charting at #3 on the Mainstream Rock chart and peaking at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100.
