Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron — Forever Free is a 2002 PC game released by THQ on October 28, 2002 that was based on the Dreamworks Animation film Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. A Gameboy Advance game, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron — Search for Homeland was released the same day.
Gameplay
This game is set after the events of the movie. Spirit and his herd have been captured by a wrangler named Jake and brought to Snakefinger’s Pit. One by one, the horses were bought or sold to various people, until it was just Spirit and an old horse left.
The player must help Spirit find and free his herd mates by completing tasks given to him by the humans that own the horses. In order to free a horse named Raphael, for example, the player must find the missing parts to a windmill he is working at. There are five locations in the game: Snakefinger’s Pit (which is the starting point in the game), Homeland, Harrigan City, the Lakota village, and Smitty’s Peak. There will be at least three horses at each location, with the exception of Snakefinger's Pit, which only has one horse you need to free. Horses that the player has freed will come back to the Homeland. Rain, Spirit’s mate, has managed to escape, but she has become injured; the player must help Spirit nurse her back to health so that she can rejoin the other horses.
As more horses are freed, Jake begins to appear in the Homeland as well as the other locations with the intent to recapture Spirit. If Spirit is caught, the player must help him buck Jake off his back. Once all the horses have been freed, the player must help Spirit and his mate Rain stop Jake the wrangler from capturing horses for good.
