Steve Fox is an American politician and former member of the California State Assembly. He was a Democrat representing the 36th district, encompassing the Antelope Valley. Prior to being elected to the state Assembly, he was a public school teacher, an attorney and former Antelope Valley College trustee.[1] He ran for Assembly in 2008 as a Republican and lost the Republican primary to Steve Knight, who went on to win the general election.[2]
Fox won his seat in 2012 by only 145 votes over Republican Lancaster City Councilman Ron Smith, taking the lead only the day before the swearing-in ceremony.[2] He became the first Democrat to win election to the legislature in this area in 36 years,[3] despite having been outspent in the election by more than 12 to one.[4] In 2014, Fox sought a second term to the state Assembly, but lost to Palmdale City Councilman Tom Lackey by a 60% to 40% margin.[5]
Fox is running for the state Assembly against Lackey again in 2016.[6]

Personal life
Steve Fox has been married for 32 years to his wife, Sharon Fox. They have two children, Rebecca Fox and Joshua Fox, as well as three grandchildren, Victoria, Joseph, and Vivianna.
