Prince Krom Phraya Damrong Rachanupab established the school as a primary school at Wat Klang, Paknam Muang, Samutprakarn on July 18, 1883. In 1900, ChaoPhraya Sadej Suren Tara Tippadee made it a high school. A separate school building was created that was the first school of public school of Samutprakan Province and it became Smutprakan School in 1902. Praya Racha Yusatok established another school building for girls in the temple which became Streesmutprakan School.
In 1938, Streesmutprakan school was moved to a new site. It transferred the girl students to Smutprakan School. Then the school was opposite Pichai Songkram Temple and had an area of about three hectares. The school taught primary school level 3 to junior high school level 3 by Mrs Krasair RatanaWraha, who established the first two buildings of the school named RuenSangruji and Phinittantakit.
In 1942, Miss Sobsamai Burawas, the principal of school at that time, developed the school and gained the trust of parents. More parents sent their children to study, so the school needed to expand. On 8 August 1956,the school was moved to the present site. The land was donated by Loung Prajerd Ugsornluk, who gave 8,000 square meters, and the school bought an additional 8,988 square meters of land with money from the Department of Education. Later on, the school received 760 square meters of land from Ms.Srisomboon Sittichai. The school now has a total area of 17,748 square meters.
