Nilufar Begum (February 2, 1936 – January 6, 2004; born Hena Bhattacharya; known by her stage name Sumita Devi) was a Bangladeshi actress.[1]
Early life
Devi was born to a Brahmin family in Manikganj district (now in Bangladesh).
Career
Beside acting, Devi directed five films: Agun Niye Khela, Momer Alo, Mayar Sangsar, Adarsha Chapakhana and Notun Probhat.[1]
Personal life
Devi's first marriage to Amulya Lahiri was short. Later she married filmmaker Zahir Raihan in 1962. Upon marriage she converted to Islam and took the name Nilifuar Begum.
