Sunwapta
Sunwapta is a Stoney Indian word meaning "turbulent river" or "radiating waves" (as in ripples, small waves in a circular shape created after dropping an object in water).
A number of geographic features in Jasper National Park of Canada have been named after this name:
- Sunwapta Peak - 3,315 metres
- Sunwapta River
- Sunwapta Falls
Additionally, in 1934, Dr. George Richard Agar Rice included the word in his new Edmonton, Alberta based radio station company: Sunwapta Broadcasting.
