Surefoot International School
Surefoot International School (SIS) is a private co-educational international school located in Calabar, Cross River, Nigeria. The school offers education for children of different nationalities from preschool to grade 12 and is built on Christian foundations.
As of 2012, two additional school buildings have been added to the school. These buildings include the middle and high school block and the multipurpose hall. In the middle and high school block there are various classes including the music room, French room, social sciences classroom, mathematics class, Language Arts class etc. In the multipurpose hall different activities are practiced. They include taekwondo, gymnastics, Friday assembly and more.
There are various facilities for people living outside the city of Calabar. There is a boarding facility that can hold up to 75 boys and 75 girls. Each room has four beds, two study-tables, an air-conditioner and more. Other facilities include a library, science laboratories, a basketball court, a soccer pitch, a swimming pool and more.
The school has recently adopted the British national curriculum and the school imports British text books. Students study Math, English, Art, ICT, Science, French, Social Studies, Music and Physical Education. From time to time, students have guest teachers and sometimes educational programmes are held in the school hall.
Students also have non-compulsory, extra-curricular activities, which include the Art Club, the Taekwondo Club, the Swimming club and the Science club, among others. Students also go on field trips that are sometimes out of the country.
SIS has different events all year long. Every year there is a Science fair, a cultural day, a funfair and lots more. Every week there is a Friday assembly. The assemblies take place in the School hall. Parents are always invited. This makes the school hall full on the morning of an SAIS Friday.
