Following the 2015 competition, the Super Stars are one of the BPL's six existing members and participated in the league's 2016 edition. The team was originally established in 2012 for the inaugural BPL season as the Sylhet Royals (Bengali: সিলেট রয়্যালস). The Royals were one of the teams dissolved in 2013 after the BPL's second edition. The franchise was sold to the current owners ALIF and rebranded as the Super Stars for the 2015 edition, in which the team was coached by Sarwar Imran and captained by Shahid Afridi. As of the 2016 season, the team is suspended due to some issues.

They had world class bowlers of the likes of Sohail Tanvir, Brad Hogg, Rubel Hossain. The most expensive player, Sohail Tanvir was bought for $100,000.

The Sylhet Royals started off their campaign with a strong total with half centuries from captain Peter Trego and icon player Alok Kapali. However they were ill prepared for the impressive force of Chris Gayle who opened the tournament with a century. From then Sylhet failed to break into a winning rhythm. Their efforts against the Gladiators were poor as they were bowled out within their overs. After two consecutive loses they then came to tight lose against Khulna whom they lost against by two runs chasing a big target.
