Taognathus is an extinct genus of non-mammalian synapsid. The Taognathus lived in South Africa during the Tatarian Age, Lopingian Subepoch, Zechstein Epoch, and Late Permian, and was then named by Scottish South African doctor and paleontoligist Robert Broom in 1911. Its diet was herbivore.
