Te Amo Amaru-Tibble (born 11 May 1989 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a New Zealand netball and basketball player.[1] She attended high school at Newlands College in Wellington before transferring to Tū Toa, a Māori sports academy in Palmerston North. During her early high school years she focused on basketball, playing with the New Zealand U16, U18, U19 and junior Tall Ferns teams. Amaru-Tibble eventually played netball at Tū Toa, coached by Yvette McCausland-Durie. In 2008 she qualified for the New Zealand U21 team to travel to Australia.[2] She also made the preliminary squad for the following year,[3] but she did not make the final team to compete at the 2009 World Youth Netball Championships in the Cook Islands.[4]
After the 2008 season of the ANZ Championship, Amaru-Tibble received a callup from Central Pulse head coach Kate Carpenter to play for the Wellington-based franchise, who had failed to secure a win that year. Carpenter was eventually dismissed as coach of the team, but Amaru-Tibble was retained for the 2009 season under new head coach McCausland-Durie,[2] where she has played as a goal shooter partnering Paula Griffin. In 2009 Amaru-Tibble also played with PIC in the Wellington Regional Super League, in the leadup to the National Provincial Championships.[5]
