A teja (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈtexa]) is a dumpling-shaped confection, the word "tejas" or "texas" means literally "roof tiles" in Spanish language, these type of dumplings are currently from the Ica Region of Peru originally introduced by the Spaniards during the colonizations. It contains manjar blanco filling (similar to dulce de leche) and either dried fruits or nuts. The exterior is usually a sugar-based fondant-like shell,[1] but there also exists chocolate versions too (known by the blend chocotejas[2]).
