The Brewer's Art is a Baltimore, Maryland brewpub and restaurant that opened on Friday, September 13, 1996. In 2008, it was named by Esquire magazine as the #1 Best Bar in America.[1] The establishment covers two floors: the ground level floor contains a bar and dining room, and the lower level floor contains a smaller bar serving drinks and pub fare as well as multiple small cavernous rooms with tables for eating.
It is currently the largest brewer of beer in the city of Baltimore, effectively taking that title upon its opening from the National Brewing Company which closed its doors during the late 1970s.
Beers
Ozzy/Beazly
In March 2014, Ozzy Osbourne issued a cease and desist order to the Brewer's Art, demanding that they change the name and packaging design of their popular Belgian strong pale ale, Ozzy.[2][3][4] The beer is now called Beazly.[5] The beer is a tribute to the Belgian beer Duvel.[6]
Resurrection
The Resurrection is a abbey-style dubbel and is made with five types of barley malt and a lot of sugar. The beer is quite strong and flavorful, without being too sweet. It has 7%abv.[7]
In popular culture
Brewer’s Art is used as a location in The Wire's eight episode called Moral Midgetry of season 3. The bar features the scene where Marlo first met Devonne.[8][9]
