The Joanna Briggs Institute

The Joanna Briggs Institute - known internationally as "JBI" - is an international organisation, operating 72 collaborating centres and groups around the world.It focusses on researching evidence-based healthcare. The Institute is based in Adelaide, South Australia. It was established by Royal Adelaide Hospital as an affiliated institute of the University of Adelaide in 1996 and is now a School within the Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Adelaide in Australia.

History

Established in 1996 by the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the University of Adelaide,[1] JBI is now a global collaboration of health scientists and clinicians that operates as an independent, not-for-profit organisation that seeks to improve global health.

JBI is an official supporting organisation of Healthcare Information For All by 2015, a global initiative that aims to improve the availability and use of reliable healthcare information in low-income countries.
