The Revivalists are an American rock/soul band formed in New Orleans in 2007.[1] The 7-piece band consists of Ed Williams (pedal steel guitar), David Shaw (vocals), Zack Feinberg (guitar), Rob Ingraham (saxophone), George Gekas (bass), Andrew Campanelli (drums), and Michael Girardot (keys/trumpet). The group's sound has been described as "a Crescent City-rhythm spin on jam-band jubilee."[2][3] The band released its latest album Men Amongst Mountains on July 17, 2015, via Wind-up Records, and in March 2016 was named by Rolling Stone magazine as one of "10 Bands You Need to Know."[4] September, 2016, The Revivalists had a number 1 on Billboard.com Adult Alternative in 2016 with their song "Wish I Knew You".

Formation

The Revivalists began when guitarist Zack Feinberg met frontman David Shaw. Shaw fatefully encountered Feinberg when he happened to be riding his bike. Feinberg, taking a different route than usual, found himself riding past Shaw who was singing a song called “Purple Heart” on his front porch. The two struck up a conversation and got together later that day to play music. The duo began playing with Andrew Campanelli, a drummer Feinberg had met at Tipitina’s. Within a week, the earliest version of the band played their first show at Checkpoint Charlie’s Laundromat/Bar on Esplanade Avenue. By the time they got a chance to play at Tipitina’s a few weeks later, the name “The Revivalists” appeared on the bill for the first time. [5]

Today, their members also include Ed Williams (pedal steel guitar), Rob Ingraham (saxophone), George Gekas (bass) and Michael Girardot (keys/trumpet).
