The Steady On Tour was a nationwide theater tour which took place in the fall of 1998 and winter and spring of 1999. It was headlined by Point of Grace and featured special guests Watermark.
History
Point of Grace released their fourth album, Steady On and decided to go on tour to support it. This was their first headlining tour, and they brought along new artists Watermark to open up the show for them. Along with being their first headlining tour, it was the first time they would be touring with their own band. On their previous tour, which they co-headlined with 4Him, they were backed by 4Him's band. The fact that their own band was breathing new life to their music was something exciting for both the group and their listeners. The set included a good mix of old and new and some funny bits as well. Since 1998 was the height of the whole Girl Power movement, the girls, who were known for parodying secular songs in their concerts, built a whole set about the women of the Bible, parodying songs by Aretha Franklin, The Chordettes, The Bangles, Cyndi Lauper and the Spice Girls. It was one of the highlights each night.
This tour introduced the group to veteran Nashville guitar player Dana Cappillino, who joined the group full-time as their standard guitar player, a position he has since held. Ironically, it would be five and a half years before his wife joined the group.
