Thomas Bogle Rader (December 25, 1859 - June 14, 1904) was a politician and businessman of Jeffersonville, Indiana.

Biography

Rader was born in Henryville, Indiana. He began teaching at the young age of sixteen and did so until he became twenty-one years old.[1] He then became Deputy County Treasurer of Clark County in 1878, and moved to Jeffersonville. Four years later he worked as a clerk in the auditor's office for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. He married Lottie Butterfoss in 1882.[1][2] In 1888 he resigned from the railroad to go into real-estate and insurance business for himself in Jeffersonville. In 1898 Thomas Rader defeated Republican incumbent Isaac F. Whitside for mayor of Jeffersonville.[2] Rader served as mayor for one term, and was defeated by Abraham Schwaninger in 1902.[3] Later that year he was appointed to as the County Treasurer by the Board of Commissioners following the resignation of the incumbent treasurer.[2] He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and a past master of Freemasonry lodge Jeffersonville Lodge #340. [4]

Thomas Rader died of Bright's disease in 1904.
