Thomas Sneum

Thomas Christian Sneum was a Danish pilot born 21 May 1917 at Fanø, Denmark; died 3 February 2007 in Roskilde

He collected information about the German Freya radar that was installed at his home island in Denmark.

At the night of 21–22 June 1941 he made a spectacular escape from Denmark to Great Britain together with pilot Kjeld Pedersen in a D.H. Hornet Moth.[1]

He was an embarrassment to the Danish government by showing that the Danish could fight the Nazis, when the government claimed it was impossible. And did therefore not receive any official recognition or thank for his effort, only opposition.

The book The Hornet's Sting is an in-depth account of Sneum's life and his role in World War II.
