Those Mockingbirds are an American band from Montclair, New Jersey, consisting of Adam Bird (vocals, Kyle Walters (guitar), and Kevin Walters (drums, vocals, percussion). They released their first studio recording, No Symmetry, on their own label L.E. Records with distribution from SideCho Records in April 2010. The release was produced by Those Mockingbirds & Tom Beaujour (Nada Surf, Phoenix) former Editor-in-Chief of Revolver Magazine, and recorded at Nuthouse Studio & White Heat Studio.[1] No Symmetry debuted at No. 1 on Amazon's Movers & Shakers Chart. Also in April 2010 a video was released indicating Those Mockingbirds had kidnapped the Numa Numa guy for a ransom of 50,000 song downloads of their single "Honest? Honest."[2] The music video for No Symmetry's single, "Honest? Honest" was released later that year followed by a fan made video for "We Are The Antidote."[3]

The next single Those Mockingbirds released was a studio cover of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain" in January 2011. The cover was recorded by Shawn Kimon (Arctic Monkeys, The Hold Steady, Cobra Starship) and produced by Those Mockingbirds at The Wild Arctic in Queens, NYC, NY.[4] A month later Those Mockingbirds filmed a Fearless Music session for Fox 5.[5]

On May 6, 2011, during a show at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, New Jersey with Smoking Popes and Girl In A Coma, Those Mockingbirds released 50 Limited Edition CD's of BETA: alpha, a self-released 3 song set that was only available at that show. Tracks include an acoustic remake of "We Are The Antidote," "The Bloodiest Gums," and a cover of The Nico Blues's "Living Proof." All tracks were produced by Those Mockingbirds and recorded by drummer Kevin Walters.[6]

On September 13, 2011 Those Mockingbirds released their latest EP, Fa Sol La, as a free download on their website. Fa Sol La was recorded at Wild Arctic by Shawn Kimon & Dean Baltulonis (The Hold Steady, Ra Ra Riot, Brand New) and Sleeping In Sanity Studios by drummer Kevin Walters. The EP was mixed by Howard Willing (OK GO, Skrewdriver, Sheryl Crow, The Smashing Pumpkins.) [7]

After their release of Fa Sol La, Those Mockingbirds were listed in September's edition of The Aquarian Weekly as one of 10 Bands on the Verge for 2011 and awarded a year of promotion.[7] They were also listed as number 3 on the Kings of A&R Top 8 Emerging Artists List for 2011.[8] In addition Those Mockingbirds were featured as the only non-national act on September 23, 2011's WCBS (AM) Entertainment News Special for the 20th anniversary of Grunge Music alongside Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam.[9]

On January 31, 2012 Starbeat Music released Fa Sol La on vinyl with the addition of an alternative track of "Coast to Coast" titled "Coast to Coast XY." [10]

On April 24, 2012 the band independently released the single, "The Difference Between Love and Addiction." The WRAT Radio ran a week-long promotional campaign culminating in the debut of "The Difference Between Love and Addiction" a few days before the single was available for download. The single was produced by Those Mockingbirds and recorded by Pat Noon at Eight 16 Studios. Alongside the release of the single Those Mockingbirds announced that another EP is in the works and that they are currently filming a music video.[11] In July 2012, the band opened for Armor For Sleep's NYC reunion show at Irving Plaza.[12]

Kyle Walters, brother of drummer Kevin Walters, joined the band after Jonathan Gianino's departure.[13] In July 2014, Those Mockingbirds released their debut album Penny The Dreadful. To promote the record, the band released music videos for "A Ballad From Hell",[14] "How To Rob A Bank",[15] and "Destroy My Love".[16] All three tracks were released as singles.

On September 30, 2014, the band released the song "Horns & Tails", which features a guest appearance from Reese Van Riper.[17]

On November 4, 2014, the band released their cover of Paul McCartney & Wings' "Jet" for the Treehouse Sound breast cancer compilation.[18]
