Trade item

The term trade item refers to any item (product or service) upon which there is a need to retrieve pre-defined information and that may be priced or ordered or invoiced at any point in any supply chain. It is a term used primarily by people in supply chain management and logistic engineering.

In colloquial usage, it refers to any item that is the subject of trade. An often used term in Journals of Lewis and Clark.[1]
