Partnership with NSTV (formally known as NUTS)

Trent TV works closely with Nottingham Student Television (NSTV) formally known as NUTS (Nottingham University Television Station). The partnership, which is unique in student television, began in 2011 with the joint live broadcast of the 2011 Varsity Ice Hockey match between Nottingham Trent University and the University of Nottingham from the Capital FM Arena. The coverage would receive a combined total of over 500 viewers on both station's websites. Trent TV also combined in 2011 with NUTS to produce 'Inter Campus Cupids' which would receive a National Student Television Award for 'Best Light Entertainment' program.

In 2012, the two television stations would combine again for the joint broadcast of the 2012 Varsity Ice Hockey match from the Capital FM Arena. The coverage would receive 1,564 viewers - a record for both Trent TV and NUTS and the highest audience for a live broadcast in student television history. The broadcast was jointly submitted by both stations into the Best Sport category at the 2012 National Student Television Awards. It would go on to win and Trent TV and NUTS would make history again - with it being the first joint submission to win a NaSTA.

This relationship continued into 2013 with both Trent TV and (the now) NUTS TV jointly broadcasting "Varsity Ice Hockey Live 2013". This programme was short-listed in the Best Sport category at the 2013 National Student Television Awards.[3]

In 2014 Trent TV and NUTS TV once again collaborated at the Varsity Charity Series jointly broadcasting "Varsity Ice Hockey Live 2014" as well as "Varsity Basketball Live 2014".

At the beginning of the 2014/2015 year NUTS went through a rebrand transforming into NSTV (Nottingham Student Television). There were rumours circulating that the two stations were set to collaborate again in the 2014/2015 but on more than just live sport programming. On the 19th November 2014, the new collaboration breakfast show 'The Panel' was announced and launched via a promotional video. The show promised to give students "the lowdown on everything student life in Nottingham" [4] The program has since aired three episodes including the first live 'Panel' episode on the 13th May with Joshua Rom and Becca Avill as the main presenters. The Panel was entered and received the Highly commended Award in the Light Entertainment category at the NaSTA Awards 2015 held in Preston and hosted by PSTV

The Panel partnership continued into the 2015/2016 academic year. Joshua Rom remained as the main NSTV presenter and was joined by Lydia Meredith from Trent TV. The series continues to make significant advancements in student television. The series 2 launch video was released on October 22, 2015 where the executive producer team composed of Joshua Rom, Billy Taylor and Lydia Meredith make the exclusive announcement that the series' content will be expanded where the show will be broadcast live every month of term on the dedicated NSTV and Trent TV joint YouTube channel (which was introduced in 2015 for the charity varsity series live broadcasts of basketball and ice hockey). This makes NSTV and Trent TV not only the first student television stations to share a YouTube channel (that has received over 10,000 views), but The Panel marks the first full series live collaboration by two television stations in the UK. The stations also expanded the amount panel broadcasts, so far with 8 episodes all being broadcast live during the year in the months of October, November, December, January, February, March, June and July with the summer series finale. The team took a brief break in April and May for the Easter holidays and then to focus on their long-established live varsity broadcast partnership. The programmes content has also been expanded this year with the expansion of the food recipe items, lifestyle items, the introduction of the full-time agony aunt (Alice Scott), news bulletins and reviews of the mornings papers as well as celebrity interviews from Showbiz & Music editor Sofia Sinnott-Montero, fashion reviews and topical features. Popular features such as the Panel Varsity competition were continued, this time presented by Harley Baptiste and Lauren Day.

The new executive producers for the 2016/2017 academic year will be Cameron Walker from Trent TV and Panel Varsity presenter Lauren Day.
