True Health Diagnostics
True Health Diagnostics is a privately held health services company operated by True Health Group, LLC, an organization of healthcare entities providing medical services. Headquartered in Frisco, Texas, True Health specializes in earlier-stage prevention and diagnosis of chronic disease, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cancer, genetic disorders and a range of metabolic conditions.[1][2] The company's laboratory can detect conditions not apparent through customary diagnostic tests.[3] It provides healthcare organizations with comprehensive testing for early detection of chronic diseases.[4] The company maintains CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory facilities in the North Texas Enterprise Center in Frisco and in the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park in Richmond, Virginia.[5][6][7][8]
History
True Health Diagnostics was founded by Chris Grottenthaler in March 2014 as a specialty lab that would specialize in early stage identification of diseases.[7] The company began operations in October 2014.
True Health purchased the assets of Health Diagnostic Laboratory, Inc. at a court-supervised auction, in September 2015 for $37.1 million.[9][10] The sale was approved by Judge Kevin Huennekens of the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia the same month.[1] True Health did not assume HDL’s liabilities as part of the sale.[11] True Health Diagnostics voluntarily assumed a corporate integrity agreement when it acquired HDL’s assets which requires an independent review of its compliance program and a comprehensive report to the Office of Inspector General.[12][13]
Products
True Health provides chronic disease detection and management to medical professionals and patients with cardiovascular illness, cancer, diabetes and others. The laboratory uses biomarkers to assess a patient’s health and do more than 100 assays for chronic diseases.[14][15] Once a diagnosis is made, the company also provides services including online disease prevention programs, and wellness education programs and nutrition plans.[3]
Research
In 2016, Harvard Medical School completed a study of omega-3 fatty acids on heart function in patients who have suffered a heart attack, which was published in the journal Circulation, a publication of the American Heart Association, in 2016.[16] True Health Diagnostics provided researchers with proprietary testing services that underpinned the study.[17]
