Tsutsujigasaki Castle

Tsutsujigasaki Yakata is classified as a flatland castle (Renkakushiki), and also classified as a palace, and sometimes referred to as a shrine. It is now mostly ruins, located in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. [1] [2]

History

Alternatively known as both the Tsutsujigasaki Yakata, or the Takedashi Yakata, the castle was an extremely well fortified complex.[3] However, it was not classified as a castle. It was home to one of the most famous samurai clans of the Sengoku period, the Takeda Clan. It was in use between 1519 and 1594. [4]

Current

The only remains are a water-filled moats & some rather minor stonework. The Takeda clan shrine is in the centre of the site. To the right of the shrine is the Takeda clan museum, guarded by a stone Hello Kitty. [5] [6]
