Twinkle Beauty parlour was a daily show that aired on SAB TV from Mondays to Thursdays. It premiered on May 15, 2007, and starred Sulabha Arya, Simple Kaul, Karan Mehra, Narayani Shastri, Rocky Verma in the lead roles. This show failed to grab the target audience in spite of its huge hype and success of its promos because of its weak story line and old concepts. The promos were instant hit and the audience expected a new comedy serial but the audience was disappointed from the luanching day itself. Even though the produces and SAB TV changed the entire cast and plot after one month from its launch, the serial failed to attract the audience and as a result the show was called off.
Synopsis
The show essentially revolves around 5 women namely Fatima Bi, Laila, Shweta, Damini and Bunty. These women by the virtue of being distinct in their personality and the events that happen in their lives, their conflicts and revelations, represent the various forms of the young Indian woman in today’s day and age – their aspiration, goals and challenges. As opposed to other shows in its slot, Twinkle Beauty Parlor, Lajpat Nagar would be a breather for the audience as the treatment would be very fresh and light but the drama would be as gripping and thought provoking. The show is primarily set in a typical middle class beauty parlor, which is in the ‘D’ Block. It is located near the busy market place of Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi. The feel is very earthy, very day-to-day and there is nothing cosmetic about the whole look…well… except for the cosmetics that are going to be used in the parlor, of course![1]
Promos
Unlike other TV Shows, the promos of Twinkle Beauty Parlour got good reviews and wide spread and created little bit of controversy. The promos created an image in the audience about the show that the show would follow a comedy track. The promos were noted for its new concept. It depiected beautiful ladies with moustache running across the streets to know when will the beauty parlour will open to get rid of their moustache. The promotional videos as well as logos portrayed moustached ladies and they were really hilarious. The promotional video of the show titled as "Shaagraat" turned out into an instant hit and won the best promo award of the year. The promo showed the first night after the wedding where the husband fell unconscious after seeing the moustache of his wife. Another promo was also released with the title "Romeo" but was called off later due to unknown reasons.[2]
