The forest railway was opened in 1938, and has a total length of 61 kilometres (38 mi), is currently operational, the track gauge is 750 mm (2 ft 5 12 in) and operates year-round.[1]

Current status

The Udimskaya forestry railway first line narrow gauge railway emerged in the 1938, in the area of Kotlassky District, Arkhangelsk Oblast from the village Udimsky. The total length of Udimskaya narrow gauge railway at the peak of its development exceeded 81 kilometres (50 mi), of which 61 kilometres (38 mi) is currently operational. The narrow gauge railway operates a scheduled freight services from Udimsky is used for forestry tasks for transportation of felled logs and forestry workers.[2] In 2009, completed construction of a new locomotive depot.[3]
