Ulucami

Ulucami or Cami-i Kebir (الجامع الكبير) meaning "Great Mosque" in Turkish and Arabic, respectively, is a name originally given to the grandest Friday mosque of a Turkish city. The name generally sticks with the first mosque to which it is applied, even if later mosques are larger or more elaborate. The Ulucami was the largest mosque of a city, were the citizens gathered to pray the Friday Prayers, though today it is common for Muslims in a single city to gather in several different mosques for these prayers.
