Vännäs TV Tower (Swedish: Vännäsmasten) is a 323 m (1,060 ft) tall Swedish concrete television tower that is used for transmitting FM-/TV-broadcasting.
Comparable to the Gerbrandy Tower in IJsselstein, the Netherlands, the Vännäs TV Tower is a partially guyed concrete television tower with a concrete tower as basement and a mast guyed to the ground, albeit the latter being shorter; the Gerbrandy Tower possesses a height of 366.8 m (1,203 ft) (see Gerbrandy Tower). Vännäs TV Tower was built in 1988 as replacement for a tower destroyed by ice accumulation.
Geography
Vännäs TV Tower lies in the tätort (locality) of Vännäs, which in turn, is the seat of the municipality of Vännäs, in the län (county) of Västerbotten, situated in the northern part of the Kingdom of Sweden.
