Vance Frost
Vance Frost (born January 29, 1947) is an American audio engineer from San Francisco, California. Frost began his career at Golden State Recorders in 1968. He first assisted with a Dory Previn session for Nick Venet. Then his projects have included Brewer And Shipley Weeds, Mill Valley Gang, and Loosen Up Naturally The Sons of Champlin, My Labors Nick Gravenites. Along with Michael Wanger, he produced Grateful Dead audio Documentary for Tom Donahue (KSAN FM broadcast) in 1969. Moved to Wally Heider Recording 1970-1971 worked with Jefferson Starship. Also worked with David Crosby on If I could only remember my name. He was the chief recording engineer and studio manager at Golden State Recorders from 1971 to 1978, and was the engineer for the soundtrack of the 1973 film Steelyard Blues. Worked on numerous recordings of Mike Bloomfield' Mark Naftalin, John Kahn. Merl Saunders. He engineered and helped create animated sound tracks for sesame street with imagination Inc. He was also engineer for the music of the children's story television show Villa Alegre from 1973 to 1980. Frost also engineered the original recordings for Chuck E. Cheese Pizza time Theater, including Joe Spano. Co-producer of Peabody Award Wining' radio series Tell Me a Story famous short stories read by the authors. These include Raymond Carver, Grace Paley, Eudora Welty, Wallace Stegner, John Updike, MFK Fisher. Founding member San Francisco chapter NARAS, board of Governors and a National Vice President two terms. Became Audio Manager for One Pass Video 1981-1987. Special Moment occurred on August 29, 1966 at Candlestick Park, when he was the security guard at the stage door of the Beatles last public concert. Later went on to produce and direct industrial television for Chevron, Pacific Gas & Electric. 1987-1995 was contract corporate communications and training video producer/director for Apple Computer. Since 1995 has continued to work in family real estate business, and maintained a hobby with sound. He has taken up work in the local politics of his home town of San Anselmo. He is also a member of the prestigious politicial group Sacramento Seminar chaired by Dick Spotswood.
