Velakkara revolt
Velakkara revolt was a mutiny by the Velakkara division of the territorial army of the Sinhalese monarch Vijayabahu in the year 1088 CE.
Prelude
During the reign of the Medieval Chola king Kulothunga I, the Sinhalese monarch Vijayabahu succeeded in removing the last vestiges of the Chola Empire in Sri Lanka. Kulottunga I therefore bore a grudge against Vijayabahu and wanted to recover the lost territories.
