He studied in Santhome Hr Sec School, Mylapore. He is also a junior of Simbu (Silambarasan) in his school. His father died in his early age. Being the only male of the family, Vignesh (Vicky) took charge of the family and raised his own sister who was very poor in her education.
Career
Vignesh Shivan made a short film and after getting Dharan to compose music for it; showed the film to producers, Gemini Film Circuit, and then to his childhood friend, Silambarasan and both parties agreed to collaborate to make it a feature film titled Podaa Podi (2012).[1] The joint producers of the film, Shanaya Telefilms, released a series of posters in June 2008 publicising the film, while Silambarasan and Vignesh toured in Canada scouting for locations and agreeing a deal with Mayor Ron Stevens to film in Orillia and Toronto.[2][3] The film languished in production for close to four years, before finally releasing in October 2012 to mixed reviews. He then continued to be active in films by working as a lyricist, filming independent music videos and appearing in an acting role as an engineer in Velaiyilla Pattathari (2014).
His second film, Naanum Rowdydhaan (2015), like his first film, went through several changes of cast and production studios, before finalising on Vijay Sethupathi and Nayantara as actors and Dhanush as producer. The film, for which he drew inspiration from the lives of his parents, opened to highly positive reviews in October 2015. The Anirudh musical was praised by audience.[4]
His third venture is announced, which he would be teaming up with Suriya Sivakumar, Keerthy Suresh, titled as Thaana Serndha Kootam. The music to be composed by Anirudh.[5]
